Well l’m told that there are many wine sayings, some important, some funny and some silly there’s even one on our fridge! and as I am not allowed to drink it I cant comment on how accurate any of them are! But a dog does know when lots of bottles get delivered and scaring the delivery man is actually a thing…told off for barking! I’m doing my job and all that clinking is annoying.
We celebrate our local wine hero’s here, in fact we celebrate anything local
and with English Wine Week starting on 25 th May it’s a perfect opportunity to collaborate with them and offer a 4 course tasting menu paired with the nectar of those Devon slopes! Lily Farm, Knowle is just outside Budleigh established in 2005, it grows approx. 2000 vines over 1 ½ acres. They have won numerous awards for their wines with a Bronze Medal at the International wine and spirit awards for their Jurrasic Red just this month. New to the list and just delivered is the Pink Sunset Rose, mum will be trying that as quick as possible! And now the exciting bit…. Tours…. Well I stay in the car, because doggies are not allowed on the actual slopes, but you can enjoy a tour of the vineyard and tastings they are open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10.30 am to 4.00 pm for bottle sales, or just enjoy a glass of wine whilst overlooking the vineyard. Light refreshments are also available.
GUIDED TOURS take place at 2.00pm, price £10 per person and include a tasting of three still wines (allow one and a half hours). We advise that you book your tour, contact 07977 057864.
(Discounts for groups of 10 – 20 people) and Faye has offered our special lucky Bed & Breakfast residents a Two for One Offer on all Tours. After that stretch your legs and enjoy a fabulous walk along the old railway to Exmouth, it’s part of the Sans trans Route 2 Cycle Path, or pop into Budleigh Salterton and enjoy an ice-cream on the beach and there’s another story………of those Devon slopes!
